abstract | FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: end plug is introduced into end of can tube upon filling it with nuclear fuel pellets. During pellet charging. , plug socket and holder function to protect external surfaces of can tube and plug against dirt. Socket placed on tube end is inserted in soft seal provided in sealing area wall. Plug is held in holder recess; it is dropped into end of tube due to displacement of holder through socket with slide fit. When tube is removed, socket and holder are held in position within seal.
