abstract FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes novel compounds of formula (I): wherein Y is CH 2 or CO; R 1 is F, Cl or OH; R 2 is H, F or Cl and R 3 is H, CH 3 or CH 2 CH 3 , except for 4-(5-chloro- 2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-2-yl)-1H-imidazole and 4-(4-chloro- 2,3-dihydro-1H-indan-2-yl)-1H-imidazole, and non-toxic acid addition salts and mixtures thereof. The present invention describes methods of preparing said compounds and also novel pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least on compound from among said compounds or salts thereof. Compounds and non-toxic salts thereof have useful pharmacological activity and are highly selective and long acting α 2 -andrenoreceptor antagonists. Peroral activity is adequate.
