FIELD: fuel elements. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fuel elements for nuclear reactors, in particular, plutonium trifluoride. Plutonium dioxide prepared from compact plutonium metal is submitted to continuous hydrofluoridation for 1.5-2.5 h at 400-500 with 15-25% stoichiometric excess of hydrogen fluoride.
