titleOfInvention Soft ophthalmic lens and its manufacturing process variants
abstract FIELD: ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: contact lens is made of material with low water content and high penetrability for O 2 . Lower content of water and smaller size of polymer matrix of material provide for sufficient supply of cornea with oxygen but do not create effect of water draw-out of eye and do not allow protein and other components of tear to penetrate and deposit on lens. Such lens is manufactured by polymerization and cross-linking of prepolymer which contains cyclic polyalcohols with polyalkylether segments. The latter have links capable of solidification. Cyclic polyalcohols consists of alkoxylated glycose or sucrose which then interact with isocyonate and form prepolymer capable of ultraviolet solidification. This done, prepolymer is placed in mould and polymerized by exposing it to effect of ultraviolet rays. Free hydroxyl groups of material interact with intensively hydrophilic reagent with formation of covalent links, thus creating the surface capable of higher moistening property. EFFECT: more effective manufacturing process. 12 cl, 3 dwg
