titleOfInvention Method of isolation and purification of n-(hexylhydroxymethyl)-caprolactam
abstract FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an isolation and purification of N-(hexylhydroxymethyl)-caprolactam (acrep) exhibiting insecto- and acarorepellent activity. N-(hexylhydroxymethyl)-caprolactam is synthesized by interaction of N-methylolcaprolactam with hexanol excess in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid at catalytical amount. Isolation and purification of acrep were carried out for a single stage by reaction mass boiling with an aqueous alkali under atmospheric pressure and at simultaneous distillation off hexanol as an azeotrope with water. EFFECT: improved method of isolation and purification.
