titleOfInvention Method and installation for removing arsenic from acid waste waters
abstract FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: method may find use in chemical industry and nonferrous metallurgy for removing arsenic from waste waters, in particular, in sulfuric acid production and in heavy nonferrous metal industry. Acid waste water is treated by disintegrated iron scrap. Released gaseous arsenic hydrogen is submitted to thermal dissociation to yield elementary arsenic and hydrogen. To completely remove arsenic from partially purified waste water, the latter is treated with sodium ferrate. Process is conducted in installation containing reactor with filter reagent charge made up of disintegrated iron scrap, horizontal settler, original waste water- supply and clarified water-discharge pipelines, and sludge-withdrawal pipeline. Settler is separated into compartments by removable vertical filter elements constituting perforated steel containers filled with crushed rock mixed with fine iron scrap. EFFECT: enhanced waste water purification. 2 cl, 1 dwg
