FIELD: inorganic chemistry, more particularly recovery of multihydric alcohols from aqueous solutions. SUBSTANCE: product: neopentyl glycol of formula: C 5 H 12 O 2 . Degree of recovery is at least 97 %; yield at crystallization stage is at least 95 %. Purity is at least 99.0 %. Product is recovered by extraction by aromatic hydrocarbon (toluene, benzene, xylene) or mixture thereof with ethyl or butyl acetate at temperature by 5-20 C lower than solvent boiling temperature with solvent recycling constantly.
