abstract FIELD: analytic chemistry, namely, photometric determination of benzoic acid or 2-oxybenzoic acid in sample comprising one of said acids. SUBSTANCE: sample is treated by 10 % solution of potassium nitrate in sulfuric acid, thus prepared mixture is diluted by water, sodium hydroxide is added to pH 3. Then thus prepared mixture is treated by colored reagent, hexamethyl-p-rosaniline chloride being used as said reagent. Colored product is extracted with toluene and analyzed with the help of photometry. EFFECT: improved selectivity of this express-method. 3 tbl
