abstract FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: claimed invention describes process for preparing vanadium biarene derivatives of formula [V(arene) 2 ] consisting of vanadium oxychloride, metallic aluminium, aluminium trichloride, and arene. The claimed process comprises contacting vanadium oxychloride, active metallic aluminium and aluminium trichloride with each other in liquid arene and converting vanadium oxychloride into complex compound of formula: [V(arene) 2 ] + [AlCl 4 ] - ;, adding liquid cyclic or acyclic ether to the reaction product obtained in stage (a) to reduce [V(arene) 2 ] + to [V(arene) 2 ] and isolating bis-arene vanadium [V(arene) 2 ] from the reaction product obtained in stage (b). Vanadium bis-arene derivatives obtained by this process are used for preparing olefin polymerization catalysts. EFFECT: more efficient preparation process. 10 cl
