abstract | FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with binding agent for pastes, crack fillers, and protective and ornamental coatings for building materials. To prepare binding composition, first 10-15% of liquid glass based on its total amount is mixed with alkali metal phosphate aqueous solution and a surfactant for 0.5-2.5 h, whereupon 1/3 of resultant mixture is dispersed with remaining portion of liquid glass, dye, and filler, and 2/3 of this mixture is mixed with a latex for 15-30 min. Further the both parts are combined and agitated for 30-40 min to produce binding composition containing (in weight parts): liquid glass, 100; 2% alkali metal phosphate aqueous solution, 15-35; surfactant, 1.5-2.5; dyes, 3-50; fillers, 30-180; latex, 10-20; water, 6-15. Characteristics: viscosity 39 sec; bending strength of 50-mcm composition layer 1 kg/sq.cm, impact strength 50 kg/sq.cm, spreadable life 90 days, moisture resistance (thickness 50 mcm) 24 h, moisture absorption 0.3%, limiting wetting angle up to 10 deg, adhesion up to 4 MPa, cold resistance 15 cycles.
