abstract | FIELD: production of alkyl-tert-alkyl ethers. SUBSTANCE: aliphatic alcohol is subjected to reaction with olefin in the presence of solid catalyst based on styrene divinyl resin at high temperature and pressure in the apparatus of reaction-rectification type having rectification zones in upper and lower parts, and several reaction zones in the middle part with catalyst partially or fully immersed in liquid, and their lower part has distributing devices for steam coming from underlying zones and overflow devices for liquid discharge from each overlying reaction zone directly to the lower part of underlying reaction zone. In this case, distance between liquid levels in adjacent zones and dynamic loads are established so that the static pressure of liquid column between liquid levels in adjacent zones exceeds the dynamic resistance of catalyst layer immersed in liquid in the overlying zone by 10 to 100 mm Hg.
