abstract FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: product: 1,1-dimethyl-4,4-dipyridilium dicarbowndecaborate of the formula given in description text is a component of electrochromy composition. 1,2-Diborane is interacted with potassium hydroxide at stoichiometric ratio, and then an aqueous solution of 1,1-dimethyl-4,4-dipyridilium dihalide is added to the reaction mass (without potassium 7,8-dicarbowndecaborate formed isolation) and the end product is isolated. The yield is 70%, m. p. is 242 C (at decomposition), purity degree is 98%, color - orange. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
