FIELD: production of catalysts. SUBSTANCE: vinylacetate is prepared of ethylene, acetic acid and oxygen or oxygen-containing gas, the process is carried out in gaseous phase with the help of catalyst. Mentioned above catalyst contains palladium and/or its compounds, compounds of alkali metals, aurum or cadmium and/or their compounds on the particles of carrier. Reaction mixture is passed through layer of catalyst, the process takes place at 100-220 C and pressure 1-25 kg/cm 2 . Calcined particles of carrier are washed by acid which does not react with silicium oxide or by mixture of silicium oxide and aluminium oxide. Said process is carried out to termination of washing away cations of binder material from carrier's particles. Then particles of carrier are impregnated by palladium, aurum and cadmium. Thus impregnated particles are treated by solution of inorganic base to prepare stable layer of precious metal. Then particles of carrier are impregnated by alkaline compound, potassium acetate or potassium propionate being preferred. Desired catalyst contains contains 0.5-2.5 % of palladium, 0.2-0.7 % of aurum or 0.5-5 % of cadmium and 0.5-5 % of potassium or sodium (as calculated for mass of carrier).
