abstract | 1. A composition comprising at least one chromium compound, at least one aryloxy compound of an element M selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, of the general formula [M (RO) X] in which RO is aryloxy is a radical derived from ROH containing from 6 to 80 carbon atoms, X is a halogen or hydrocarbon residue (hydrocarbyl) containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, n is an integer that can be an integer of 0 or 1, and y is an integer a number from 1 to 10, and at least one additive selected from compounds of the type ether, cyclic or not, introduced in an amount close to stoichiometric with respect to element M.2. The composition according to claim 1, in which the molar ratio of the additive to the element M is from 1 to 200.3. The composition of claim 1 or 2, wherein the molar ratio of element M to chromium is from 1: 1 to 30: 1.4. The composition of claim 1 or 2, wherein the additive is selected from diethyl ether, dibutyl ether, diisopropyl ether, 2-methoxy-2-methylpropane, 2-methoxy-2-methylbutane, 2,5-dihydrofuran, tetrahydrofuran, 2-methoxytetrahydrofuran, 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, 3-methyltetrahydrofuran, 2,3-dihydropyran, tetrahydropyran, 1,3-dioxolane, 1,3-dioxane, 1,4-dioxane, dimethoxyethane, di (2-methoxyethyl) ether and benzofuran, used individually or in a mixture. 5.
