titleOfInvention | AMINES OF GLYCOL ETHERS FOR USE AS AN AGENTS FOR PREVENTING DISPERSION OF SHALE AND CLAY ROCKS FOR DRILLING INDUSTRY |
abstract | 1. A water-based drilling fluid composition comprising: i) a continuous water-based phase; ii) a reactive clay or shale material; and iii) an agent for inhibiting shale hydration, described by the structural formula: R is hydrogen or an alkyl group containing in the range 1-12 carbon atoms, R represents an alkylene group containing in the range of 1-12 carbon atoms, and R represents an alkyl group containing in the range of 1-12 carbon atoms, in which the hydration inhibition agent is weak The sediment is present in a concentration sufficient to reduce the reactivity of clay or shale. 2. The composition according to claim 1, wherein: R is hydrogen or methyl, R is methylene or ethylene, and R is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl or butyl. 3. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the shale dispersion inhibiting agent is 2-methoxy-1-aminoethane, 2-ethoxy-1-aminoethane, 2-propoxy-1-aminoethane, 2-butoxy-1-aminoethane, 1-methoxy -2-aminopropane, 1-ethoxy-2-aminopropane, 1-propoxy-2-aminopropane or 1-butoxy-2-aminopropane. 4. A composition according to claim 1, further comprising one or more of: a loss of fluid loss agent, a weighting material, a viscosity increasing agent, a dispersant, a lubricant, a corrosion inhibitor, an antifoam or a surfactant. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the continuous water-based phase is fresh water, sea water, saline, mixtures of water and water-soluble organic compounds, or mixtures thereof. A method of reducing the reactivity of clays and shale rock during |
