abstract | 1. A designed, lively, three-dimensional connective tissue construct, comprising: connective tissue cells associated with each other due to cohesion forces to produce a living, three-dimensional connective tissue construct; moreover, this construct essentially does not contain a pre-formed frame at the time of use. A construct according to claim 1, wherein the construct is not innervated. 3. The construct of claim 1, wherein the connective tissue cells comprise connective tissue cells derived in vitro from multipotent cells. The construct of claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells comprise one or more of the following: tissue-specific precursors, mesenchymal stem / stromal cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and embryonic stem cells. The construct of claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells are derived from mammalian adipose tissue. The construct of claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells are derived from mammalian bone marrow. The construct of claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells originate from a source of non-adipose tissue not from bone marrow. A construct according to claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells are exposed to one or more differentiation signals prior to constructing the construct. The construct of claim 3, wherein the multipotent cells are exposed to one or more differentiation signals in the manufacture of the construct.
