abstract | 1. An additive composition for use in a drilling fluid composition comprising (i) dialkyl methyl glutarate and (ii) dialkyl ethyl succinate, where the alkyl groups independently include C-hydrocarbon groups. The additive composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the drilling fluid is a clay mud. The additive composition of claim 1, further comprising at least one dibasic acid ester including dialkyl adipate, dialkyl succinate, dialkyl glutarate, or any combination thereof. A composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one additional component. The composition of claim 1, further comprising at least one emulsifier. A composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the emulsifier contains at least one alcohol ethoxylate, at least one alkyl phenol ethoxylate, at least one terpene alkoxylate, or any combination thereof. The additive composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the additive composition is contained in an amount of more than about 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% or 50% based on the weight of the mud composition. 8. An oil-based drilling fluid composition comprising: a) at least one environmentally friendly oil base; b) a mixture of esters of dibasic acids; and c) optionally, at least one emulsifier. The composition of claim 8, wherein the mixture of dibasic esters contains dialkyl methyl glutarate and dialkyl ethyl succinate, and wherein the alkyl groups independently include C-carbon groups. The composition of claim 8, wherein the dibasic ester mixture is selected from the group consisting of dialkyl methyl glutarate, dialkyl adipate, |
