titleOfInvention | POLYMERS AND NANOGEL MATERIALS, AND ALSO WAYS OF PRODUCING AND USING THEM |
abstract | 1. A composition comprising a water-soluble block copolymer of the following formula: [A] -B- [Q], where [A] is a segment that has affinity for a medical device; B is a linking group containing an optionally substituted polyvalent linking group, having a molecular weight of not more than 1000 g / mol; and [Q] contains a partially cross-linked non-gel segment obtained by copolymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer with a polyfunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The composition of claim 1, wherein the block copolymer is stable, water-soluble and cross-linked, but not macroscopically gel-like, [Q] contains many cross-linked primary polymer chains, each of which has a degree of polymerization in the range of from about 10 to about 10 000, and [A] contains a linear bondable substrate segment at at least one end of the chain of said block copolymer, said linkable substrate bond segment comprising from about 1 to p about 1000 repeating units, and said block copolymer is bonded via a linear, capable of forming a bond with the substrate segment to the surface of the medical device. 3. The composition according to claim 2, wherein said segment capable of forming a bond with a substrate is selected from the group consisting of a hydrophobic segment, a hydrophilic segment capable of forming a bond with a substrate, a proton donor segment, a proton acceptor segment, an ionic complexing segment segment and sensitive to external influences |
