A drug delivery system configured to attach a stapling instrument to the abutment, wherein the abutment includes a forming surface, and wherein the drug delivery system comprises release material containing a cavity, the cavity being able to align with the abutment forming surface; a drug located inside the cavity; and an attachment portion configured to attach to a stop. 2. The drug delivery system according to claim 1, wherein the cavity is formed by a side wall, wherein the release material comprises a first layer and a second layer, and wherein portions of the first layer are connected to the second layer to form a side wall. A drug delivery system according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the forming surface comprises a forming recess configured to deform the fastener, the releasing material being located inside the forming recess. The drug delivery system according to claim 1, wherein the drug contains a non-woven oxidized regenerated cellulose. The drug delivery system according to claim 1, wherein the cavity contains a first cavity, and wherein the drug delivery system further comprises a second cavity and a drug located inside the second cavity.
