abstract | 1. A tissue thickness compensator comprising: a first layer comprising a first biocompatible material hermetically enclosed by a waterproof material; and a second layer containing a second biocompatible material containing at least one capsule; wherein the first biocompatible material expands upon contact with a fluid. The tissue thickness compensator according to claim 1, comprising a third layer comprising a third biocompatible material, the first layer being located between the second layer and the third layer. The tissue thickness compensator according to claim 2, wherein each of the first layer and the second layer comprises a surface in contact with the fabric. The tissue thickness compensator according to claim 2 or 3, wherein the first biocompatible material, the second biocompatible material and the third biocompatible material are independently selected from albumin, alginate, carbohydrate, casein, cellulose, chitin, chitosan, collagen, blood, dextran, elastin, fibrin, fibrinogen, gelatin, heparin, hyaluronic acid, keratin, protein, serum, starch, polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, polyhydroxybutyrate, polyphosphazine, polyester, polyethylene glycol, polyalkylene oxide, polyacrylamide, polycarbonate, p ligidroksietilmetilakrilata, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, polycaprolactone, polydioxanone, polyacrylic acid, polyacetate, polypropylene, glycerol, polyamino acids, a copolymer of esters and ethers, polialkilenoksalata, polyamide poliiminokarbonata, polioksaefira, polyorthoester, polyphosphazene or kombinatsiyu.5.
