titleOfInvention | RETAINING ETHYLENE BY ABSORPTION |
abstract | 1. A method of extracting ethylene from a stream of polymerization products of a polyethylene production system, comprising: separating a stream of light gases from a stream of products of polymerization, said stream of light gases containing unreacted ethylene, bringing into contact a stream of light gases with an absorbent solvent system, said contacting a stream light gases with an absorbent solvent system occurs at temperatures ranging from about 4 ° C (40 ° F) to about 43 ° C (110 ° F), with at least a portion of ethylene from the light gas stream is absorbed by an absorbent solvent system; and recovering unreacted ethylene from the absorbent solvent system to produce recovered ethylene. 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the system of absorbent solvents contains copper chloride, aniline and N-methylpyrrolidone. A method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the contacting of the stream of light gases with a system of absorbent solvents occurs at a temperature in the range from about 4 ° C (40 ° F) to about 16 ° C (60 ° F). 4. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the contacting of the stream of light gases with a system of absorbent solvents occurs at a temperature of about 10 ° C (50 ° F). A method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the contacting of the stream of light gases with a system of absorbent solvents occurs at a temperature in the range from about 16 ° C (60 ° F) to about 32 ° C (90 ° F) .6. A method according to claim 1, further comprising: introducing into the system of absorbent solvents a stripping gas, wherein at least a portion of said stripping gas is absorbed by the system of absorbent solvents. The method according to p. 6, excellent |
