| abstract | 1. An oral hygiene composition comprising (i) an acceptable oral gallium salt and (ii) a basic amino acid polymer, wherein the combination of a gallium salt and a basic amino acid polymer is present in a concentration effective to break down the biofilm. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the gallium salt acceptable for the oral cavity is selected from gallium nitrate, gallium citrate, gallium maltolate and mixtures thereof. The composition of claim 1, wherein the basic amino acid polymer is ε-polylysine. 4. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the amount of gallium salt acceptable for the oral cavity is from 0.001 to 5% .5. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the amount of the basic amino acid polymer is from 0.001 to 5% .6. The composition according to claim 1, additionally containing, in addition to the gallium salt and basic amino acid polymer, effective amounts of additional agents selected from fluoride, L-arginine in a salt form free or acceptable for the oral cavity, antibacterial agents, anti-inflammatory compounds and bleaching agents. The composition of claim 1 in a form selected from a mouthwash, toothpaste, tooth gel, tooth powder, non-abrasive gel, mousse, foam, aerosol for the oral cavity, lozenges, tablets for the oral cavity, dental device and product for animal hygiene .8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is a toothpaste or mouthwash, optionally containing additionally one or more materials, such as water, abrasive materials, surfactants, foaming agents, vitamins, polymers, enzymes, moisturizers, thickeners, antimicrobials, preservatives, flavors, coloring agents |
