titleOfInvention METHOD FOR DETECTING NUCLEOSOM ADDUCTS
abstract 1. The use of the nucleosome-protein adduct as a biomarker in the blood for the diagnosis of cancer, autoimmune disease or inflammatory disease. The use of claim 1, wherein the biomarker is used to diagnose cancer. The use of claim 1 or 2, wherein the nucleosome protein adduct contains a chromatin-modifying enzyme, a nuclear receptor, or a hormone. The use of claim 2, wherein the nucleosome protein adduct contains a high mobility group protein. The use according to claim 3, wherein the chromatin-modifying enzyme is an acetylation, deacetylation, methylation, demethylation, phosphorylation, dephosphorylation, ubiquitinylation, deubiquitinylation, sumoylation, histone desumoylation or DNA methyl transferase enzyme. The use of claim 3, wherein the nuclear receptor is an estrogen receptor, an androgen receptor, a progesterone receptor, a thyroid hormone receptor, a glucocorticoid receptor, or a retinoic acid receptor. The use of claim 3, wherein the hormone is a thyroid hormone, a glucocorticoid hormone, or a steroid hormone, including estrogen, androgen, progestogen, corticosteroid or retinoic acid. A method for detecting the presence of a nucleosome-protein adduct in a sample, which comprises the steps of: (i) bringing a sample into contact with a first binding agent that binds to nucleosomes or a component thereof; (ii) bringing a nucleosome or sample into contact with a second binding agent that binds to a protein associated with a nucleosome; (iii) detecting or quantifying the binding of said second binding agent to a bound protein
