| abstract | 1. A method of treating seborrhea in a patient, which involves the use in relation to the patient an effective amount of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the specified ester. 2. A composition for use in the treatment of seborrhea in a patient, which contains an effective amount of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said ester together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. 5. A composition according to claim 4, which contains sodium racemic (24RS, 25RS) -scimnolsulfate. A composition according to claim 4 or 5, which is a composition for topical, cutaneous or transdermal use. The use of (24RS) -scimnol, its ester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said ester in the manufacture of a medicament for use in the treatment of seborrhea in a patient. 8. The use of claim 7, wherein the racemic (24RS, 25RS) sodium scimnolsulfate is used. The use of claim 7 or 8, wherein the medicament is a composition for topical, dermal or transdermal use. (24RS) -scimnol, an ester thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said ester for use in the treatment of seborrhea in a patient. 11. The use of claim 10, wherein the racemic (24RS, 25RS) sodium scimnolsulfate is used. The use according to claim 10 or 11, wherein the treatment is carried out locally, dermally or transdermally. |
