abstract | 1. An aldehyde-based polymer composition containing one or more reducing sugars, preferably selected from the group consisting of glucose, mannose, glycolaldehyde, glyceraldehyde, erythrose, threose, ribose, arabinose, xylose, lyxose, allose, altrose, gulose, idose , galactose, talose, dihydroxyacetone, erythrulose, ribulose, xylulose, fructose, psicose, sorbose, tagatose, sedoguptulose, glucoheptose, mannoheptose, mannoheptulose, thaloheptulose, alloheptulose, aldose, ketose or combinations thereof, or reducing sugar in the form of carbohydrate raw materials reducing sugar and a dextrose equivalent (DE) value of at least 15, preferably at least 25, more preferably at least 50, even more preferably at least 75 and most preferably over 90, and optionally cyanamide.2 . An aldehyde-based polymer composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the aldehyde-based polymer is obtained by reacting one or more hydroxyl aromatic and/or one or more amino functional compounds (I) with one or more aldehyde functional compounds (II), and that that the reducing sugar compounds (III) and optionally cyanamide (IV) are added before or during said reaction and/or after said reaction.
