titleOfInvention | METABOLITES FOR DETERMINING THE HYGIENIC STATE OF THE ORAL CAVITY AND THEIR APPLICATION |
abstract | 1. A method for identifying a test compound suitable for the treatment of periodontal disease in a mammal, comprising introducing a cell into contact with a test compound and determining the ability of the test compound to reduce the level of at least one substance selected from inosine, hypoxanthine, xanthine, guanosine, guanine, leucine, isoleucine , lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, valine, phenylacetic acid, α-hydroxyisocaproic acid, 5-aminovaleric acid, choline, glycerol-3-phosphate and N-acetylneuraminic acid. 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising: determining the ability of the test compound to increase the level of at least one substance selected from uric acid, reduced glutathione, oxidized glutathione, ascorbic acid, and glutamine. A method for identifying a test subject as a responder or nonresponder to therapeutic agents using a standard oral care procedure, which includes the steps of: determining a metabolite profile in a gingival sulcus fluid sample obtained from a test subject, which includes identifying the metabolite and the metabolite level ; comparing the metabolite profile of the test subject with the reference metabolite profile of the responder and the reference metabolite profile of the non-responder; wherein the reference metabolite profile of the responder was determined in the reference responder who showed regression of periodontal disease with the cleanser |
