abstract 1. A bismuth-containing catalyst obtained by reacting at least one bismuth (III) salt or a bismuth (III) complex with at least one 1,3-ketoamide of the formula (I): wherein R and R are independently monovalent saturated hydrogen or an unsaturated hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or together represent a divalent alkylene group containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and R and R independently represent hydrogen, a monovalent saturated hydrocarbon group uppa, which optionally contains heteroatoms containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or together represent a divalent alkylene group, which optionally contains heteroatoms containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms. 2. The bismuth-containing catalyst according to claim 1, characterized in that said bismuth-containing catalyst has the formula Bi (L) (Y), where x is 1, 2 or 3, y is a ligand bearing one negative charge, and L is a ligand of the formula ( I) .3. A bismuth-containing catalyst according to claim 1, characterized in that R represents an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a phenyl group or together with R represents a divalent alkylene group containing from 3 to 4 carbon atoms. A bismuth-containing catalyst according to claim 2, characterized in that R represents an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a phenyl group or together with R represents a divalent alkylene group containing from 3 to 4 carbon atoms.
