titleOfInvention | METHODS FOR OBTAINING A VISIBLE LABEL ON LENSES USING LEUKO-DYE |
abstract | 1. A method of obtaining lenses with at least one visible mark, comprising the steps of (i) obtaining lenses containing at least one leuco dye of the lens, and (ii) activating the leuco dye in at least part of said lens to change the color of the leuco dye in order to create a visible labels 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of producing said lens comprises the step of curing a hydrogel reaction mixture containing said leuco dye to form a lens. The method of claim 2, wherein said leuco dye contains at least one functional group of methacrylate, acrylate, methacrylamide, acrylamide, vinyl or styrene, and said leuco dye is polymerized with at least one more polymerizable components during said curing step. The method of claim 3, wherein said polymerizable component is selected from the group consisting of silicone components, N, N-dimethylacrylamide, N-vinylpyrrolidone, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The method according to claim 1, wherein said step of obtaining said lens comprises the step of coating with said leuco dye at least a portion of said lens. The method of claim 1, wherein said leuco dye is selected from the group comprising spiropyrans, fluoranes, phthalides, and triarylmethanes. The method of claim 1, wherein said leuco dye is activated by exposing said contact lens to ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation or heat. The method according to claim 1, wherein said leuco dye is activated in the presence of a color developer. The method according to claim 6, wherein said color developer is selected from g |
