titleOfInvention ADDITIVE AND METHOD FOR REMOVING CALCIUM FROM RAW OILS CONTAINING CALCIUM NAPTENATE
abstract 1. A method of removing calcium from crude oil or its mixtures containing calcium naphthenate, comprising contacting the crude oil or its mixtures with the wash water used in crude oil processing systems and with an additive, characterized in that the wash water has a pH from about 3 to about 11 and the additive consists of glyoxal. 2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that said pH values vary from about 6 to about 11.3. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that said pH values vary from about 7 to about 9.4. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that said pH values of the wash water are the result of the addition or presence of an alkaline medium in the wash water. The method of claim 3, wherein said alkaline medium is selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide (NaOH or caustic), an ammonia or amine compound, or a mixture thereof. The method according to any one of paragraphs. 1-5, characterized in that the additive is introduced in a molar ratio of the additive to the concentration of calcium, varying from about 1: 0.9 to 1: 4.7. The method according to any one of paragraphs. 1-5, characterized in that said additive is introduced in a molar ratio of the additive to calcium concentration of about 1: 2.8. The method according to any one of paragraphs. 1-5, characterized in that the said crude oil or mixtures thereof and the additive react at a temperature of from about 80 ° C to 160 ° C. 9. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that said additive is used as such and not with acid. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that said washing water is intended for desalting installation of crude oil processing systems. The method according to any one of paragraphs. 1-5, characterized in that the said removal of cal
