abstract 1. A composition containing a polyalkyleneimine and / or a salt thereof or a derivative thereof and at least one amphoteric polymer. The composition of claim 1, wherein the number average molecular weight of the polyalkyleneimine is in the range from 100 to 5,000,000. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyalkyleneimine is polyethyleneimine. The composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one amphoteric polymer is a hydrophilic polymer. The composition of claim 4, wherein the hydrophilic polymer is a water-based amino-functional polymer of acrylic acid. The composition of claim 4, wherein the hydrophilic polymer is a quaternized ammonium copolymer of acrylamide and acrylic acid. The composition of claim 4, wherein the hydrophilic polymer is Mirapol Surf S manufactured by Rhodia. A composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the composition is a detergent for automatic dishwashers containing polyalkyleneimine in an amount from 0.0001 wt% to 50 wt% of the composition, and an amphoteric polymer in an amount from 0.0001 wt% to 50 wt% of the composition 9. The composition according to any one of claims 1 to 7, in which the composition is a rinse aid for automatic dishwashers containing polyalkyleneimine in an amount from 0.0005 wt.% To 70 wt.% Of the composition, and an amphoteric polymer in an amount from 0.0005 wt. % up to 70 wt.% of the composition. 10. The composition according to any one of claims 1 to 7, in which the composition is a salt composition for softening water containing polyalkyleneimine in an amount from 0.0001 wt.% To 90 wt.% Of the composition, and an amphoteric polymer in an amount from 0.0001 wt. % to 90 wt.% of the composition.
