titleOfInvention IMPROVED ALGORITHM FOR DIABETES DETECTION
abstract 1. A method for determining the presence of a disease that a patient suffers, comprising the steps of: irradiating the target tissue of a patient with exciting radiation; detecting the fluorescent radiation generated by the target tissue in response to the exciting radiation; comparing the characteristic of the detected fluorescence radiation with the expected characteristic of the fluorescent radiation; and determine the presence of the disease that the patient suffers based on the results of the comparison step. 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the comparison step comprises comparing the characteristics of the detected fluorescence radiation with the expected characteristic of the fluorescent radiation for individuals of approximately the same age and weight as the patient. The method according to claim 2, wherein the comparison step comprises comparing the characteristics of the detected fluorescence radiation with the expected characteristic of the fluorescent radiation for individuals in whom the disease is absent. The method of claim 1, wherein the detection step comprises detecting an intensity of the fluorescent radiation generated by the target tissue. The method according to claim 4, further comprising stages in which: detect the intensity of radiation backscattered from the target tissue; and normalize the detected intensity of fluorescent radiation, taking into account the intensity of backscattered radiation. 6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the comparison step comprises comparing the normalized detected fluorescence intensity with the expected normalized fluorescence intensity for individuals in which the disease is absent. The method of claim 1, wherein
