The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the carrier material has a porosity of at least about 40%. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the average pore size is in the range of 2-50 nm. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the surface area of the carrier material is between 20 and 1000 m / g. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the filling level of the carrier material is less than 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the carrier material and the therapeutic agent. A method of manufacturing a device according to any one of claims 1 to 9, comprising contacting the porous silicon carrier material with a therapeutic agent.
