An imaging agent comprising a radiolabeled F cMet-binding cyclic peptide, wherein said cMet-binding cyclic peptide is an 18-30 mer cyclic peptide of formula I: wherein cMBP (cMet-binding cyclic peptide) has formula II: where Q is the amino acid sequence (SEQ-1): -Cys-X-Cys-X-Gly-Pro-Pro-X-Phe-Glu-Cys-Trp-Cys-Tyr-XXX-, where X is Asn, His or Tyr ; X is Gly, Ser, Thr, or Asn; X is Thr or Arg; X is Ala, Asp, Glu, Gly, or Ser; X is Ser or Thr; X is Asp or Glu; and all Cys are cysteine residues, so that residues a and b as well as c and d are cyclized to form two separate disulfide bonds; A and A 'independently represent any amino acid other than Cys, provided that at least one of A and A' is present and is Lys ; x and y are independently integers ranging from 0 to 13 and are selected so that the sum of x and y is from 1 to 13; Z is attached to the N-terminus of the cMBP and is H or M; Z is attached to the C-terminus of the cMBP and is OH, OB, or M, where B is a biocompatible cation; each M independently represents a group that inhibits metabolism, which is a biocompatible group that inhibits or suppresses the metabolism of cMBP peptide in vivo; where cMBP is labeled with F at the Lys residue of groups A or A'.2.
