titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR CLEANING THE ORAL CAVITY |
abstract | 1. A method of cleaning the oral cavity, including: a. installing in said oral cavity a device suitable for detecting and removing plaque from the surface of at least one tooth in said oral cavity, where said device comprises a light emitting source, b. substantially simultaneously cleaning and irradiating said surface of at least one tooth in said oral cavity, wherein said at least one tooth is coated with a fluorescent agent capable of binding to plaque on said at least one tooth, said light having a length a wave effective to provide fluorescent emission when interacting with said fluorescent agent on said at least one tooth, c. collecting at least a portion of said fluorescence emission during a predetermined first period of time, d. determining an average plaque value (APV) based on said fluorescent radiation collected during said predetermined first time period, e. comparing said APV with a predetermined plaque value (PPV), f. continuing to substantially simultaneously clean and irradiate said at least one tooth for a predetermined second period of time. The method of claim 1, wherein the reflected light resulting from the interaction of said incident radiation with said surface is collected substantially simultaneously with said fluorescent radiation, and said APV is compensated APV. The method according to claim 1, wherein said fluorescent ag |
