abstract 1. A thread for cleaning interdental spaces, containing a polymer selected from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polypropylene, polyethylene, styrene-butadiene copolymer and a combination of two or more of these substances and a composition containing a basic amino acid in which the basic amino acid is arginine. 2 . A dental floss according to claim 1, wherein the basic amino acid is a physiologically acceptable arginine salt. The dental floss according to claim 1, wherein the basic amino acid is L-arginine. The dental floss according to claim 1, wherein the physiologically acceptable salt of the basic amino acid is carbonate. The dental floss according to claim 1, wherein the salt of the basic amino acid is arginine bicarbonate. A dental floss according to claim 1, further comprising a fluoride ion source. The thread according to claim 1, additionally containing an antiseptic or antimicrobial composition. The thread according to claim 1, additionally containing additional components selected from painkillers, coagulants, anti-inflammatory substances, opioids and vitamins. The thread according to claim 1, in which the polymer is coated or impregnated with a composition containing a basic amino acid, where the basic amino acid is arginine.
