titleOfInvention | PRODUCTION OF FERROUSED SUGARS AND LIGNIN FROM BIOMASS USING SUPERCRITICAL FLUIDS |
abstract | 1. A method for continuously treating biomass, comprising: a pre-treatment step, wherein said biomass comes into contact with a first supercritical, near-critical or subcritical fluid, forming a solid matrix and a first liquid fraction; where said first supercritical, near-critical or subcritical fluid contains water and optionally CO; wherein said first supercritical, near-critical or subcritical fluid is substantially free of C-C alcohol; hydrolysis step, where said solid matrix comes into contact with a second supercritical or near supercritical fluid to form a second liquid fraction and an insoluble lignin-containing fraction; where said second supercritical or near-critical fluid contains water and, optionally, CO; where said second supercritical or near-critical fluid is substantially free of C-C.2 alcohols. The method according to claim 1, wherein said first supercritical, near-critical or subcritical fluid contains less than about 10% carbon dioxide. The method according to claim 1, wherein said pre-treatment step occurs at a temperature and pressure below a critical point of at least one component of said first supercritical, near-critical or subcritical fluid. The method according to claim 1, wherein said pre-treatment step is carried out at a temperature of from about 150 ° C to about 300 ° C. The method according to claim 1, wherein said pre-treatment step is carried out at a pressure of |
