titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING ETHYLBENZENE
abstract 1. A method of producing ethylbenzene, comprising the step of carrying out an alkylation reaction in which benzene is reacted with ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and ethylene at a pressure above atmospheric pressure in the presence of a catalyst system containing a zeolite belonging to the BEA family, and a step for separating the obtained ethylbenzene, where separation of ethylbenzene from the reaction mixture follows the alkylation step. 2. The method according to claim 1, which is performed under the conditions of a gaseous phase, a liquid phase or a mixed gas-liquid phase. The method according to claim 2, which is performed in the gas phase or mixed phase. The method according to claim 1, in which ethanol containing up to 20 wt.% Water is used. The method for producing ethylbenzene according to claim 1, comprising the step of reacting benzene with ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and ethylene at a pressure above atmospheric pressure in the presence of a catalyst system containing a zeolite belonging to the BEA family, and a separation step where ethanol is used to be obtained from biomass. 6. The method according to claim 5, comprising: a) converting biomass to produce a feed that can be used for fermentation; b) fermenting the feed thus obtained to produce ethanol; c) alkylating benzene from the ethanol thus obtained, possibly mixed with ethylene, at a pressure above atmospheric pressure and in the presence of a catalytic system containing a zeolite belonging to the BEA family; d) separation of the resulting product, ethylbenzene. 7. The method according to claim 1, in which the zeolite structural type BEA is a zeolite beta. The method according to claim 1, in which the zeolite is used in a form in which
