abstract 1. An aqueous latex adhesive composition comprising (1) one or more polymerization products of monomers, which include: (a) at least one conjugated aliphatic monomer, (b) at least one vinyl aromatic monomer, (c) at least , one vinyl pyridine, (d) a nitrogen-containing monomer comprising reactive N-methylol or N-alkoxy functional groups; and (e) optionally, an acid monomer; and (2) optionally, a polymer component, wherein said one or more polymerization products includes a higher percentage by weight of units formed (a) than units formed (b), (c) or (d), and not more than 20 wt. .% of units formed by (c) and (d). 2. The aqueous latex adhesive composition according to claim 1, wherein said polymer component comprises resorcinol formaldehyde resin or condensate. Aqueous latex adhesive composition according to any one of claims 1 or 2, wherein the weight ratio of said one or more polymerization products to said polymer component is from 20: 1 to 2: 1.4. The aqueous latex adhesive composition according to claim 1, wherein said one or more polymerization products comprises at least 55% by weight of units (a). The aqueous latex adhesive composition according to claim 4, wherein said one or more polymerization products comprises from 65 to 80% by weight of units (a). 6. An aqueous latex adhesive composition according to any one of claims 1 or 2, 4 or 5, wherein said one or more polymerization products comprise from 10 to 40% by weight of units (b). 7. The aqueous latex adhesive composition according to claim 6, wherein said one or more polymerization products comprises from 14 to 20% by weight of units (b).
