titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING PYRIMIDINYLACETONITRIL DERIVATIVES AND INTERMEDIATE DERIVATIVES FOR THEIR SYNTHESIS
abstract 1. A process for producing a pyrimidinylacetonitrile derivative represented by the general formula (3) wherein X is a halogen atom, R is an alkoxymethyl group, and Me is a methyl group, characterized by carrying out a reaction in the presence of a base between a 2,4-dihalogenonitrobenzene derivative represented by the general formula ( 1) where X and R are the same as defined above, and 4,6-dimethoxy-2-cyanomethylpyrimidine represented by the formula (2) where Me is the same as defined above). The method for producing a pyrimidinylacetonitrile derivative according to claim 1, wherein the 2,4-dihalogenonitrobenzene derivative represented by the general formula (1) where X is a halogen atom and R is an alkoxymethyl group is obtained by alkylation of a 3,5-dihalo-2-nitrobenzoic acid derivative , represented by the general formula (4) where X is the same as defined above, in the presence of a base (method A) or by nitration of an alkyl 3,5-dihalogenbenzoate derivative represented by the general formula (5) where R' is an alkyl group and X is the same as defined above (method B) to give an alkyl 3,5-dihalo-2-nitrobenzoate derivative represented by the general formula (6) where X and R' are the same as defined above, followed by reduction of an alkyl 3,5-dihalo-2-nitrobenzoate derivative to give a 2,4-dihalo-6-hydroxymethylnitrobenzene derivative represented by the general formula (7) where X is the same as defined flax above, and by alkylation of the 2,4-dihalo-6-hydroxymethylnitrobenzene derivative in the presence of a base.3.
