titleOfInvention | COMPOSITIONS FOR CARE OF THE ORAL CAVITIES CONTAINING TIN AND POTASSIUM |
abstract | 1. Single-phase composition for the care of the oral cavity, containing: a. a stannous salt supplying a stannous ion; b. a potassium salt supplying a potassium ion, where the potassium salt is selected from potassium nitrate, potassium gluconate, potassium citrate, potassium chloride, potassium tartrate, potassium bicarbonate, and mixtures thereof; c. chelating agent; d. a fluoride ion source providing free fluoride ions; no. less than about 0.01% alkyl sulfate or alkyl ethoxylate sulfate; wherein the oral composition provides a level of soluble fluoride ion greater than about 50% of the total fluoride ion. 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises less than about 0.01% sodium lauryl sulfate. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the source of the fluoride ion is selected from sodium fluoride, potassium fluoride, stannous fluoride and mixtures thereof. The composition of claim 3, wherein the fluoride ion source provides from about 0.01 to about 0.35% (from about 100 to about 3500 ppm) fluoride ions, preferably from about 0.05 to about 0.25 % (about 500 to about 2500 ppm) fluoride ions. 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the level of soluble fluoride ion is greater than about 75% of the total fluoride ion. The composition of claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of chelating agent to stannous ion supplied by the stannous salt is at least about 0.70: 1 to about 20: 1, wherein the chelating agent has a molecular weight of less than about 1000. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the percentage by weight of the chelating agent to the stannous ion supplied by the stannous salt is |
