titleOfInvention | DISTRIBUTION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INCREASING POWDER MEANS IN AIR FLOW |
abstract | 1. An inhaler for a dry powdered agent for dispensing a dose of a medicinal powdered agent in an air stream, comprising a flow passage (4, 37, 42, 52, 210) and a cavity (5, 33, 41, 51, 211) for storing the powdered agent with an opening (20), the opening of the cavity being made in the wall (7, 54) of the flow passage, and the flow passage being configured to direct air flow through the opening of the cavity, wherein (i) the opening of the cavity has a quadrangular shape, such as a rectangular or trapezoidal one, and (ii) length (20 1) the opening of the cavity in the direction (F) of the flow has a value of (i) from 50% to 150% of the depth (202) of the cavity, and (iii) at least 80% of the maximum length of the cavity in the direction of flow. An inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the radius of the edge of the hole (20) of the cavity has a value from 0.001 mm to 0.5 mm, preferably from 0.01 mm to 0.3 mm. An inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the opening (20) has an aspect ratio in the range from 1.5 to 4.0, more preferably from 1.8 to 3.5, even more preferably from 2.6 to 3.2.4 . The inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the length (201) of the cavity opening in the flow direction (F) has a value between 105% and 140% of the cavity depth (202), more preferably between 110% and 135%. The inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the maximum height of the flow passage (4, 37, 42, 52, 210) near the cavity has a value from 0.5 to 4 mm, preferably from 0.5 mm to 3 mm, more preferably from 1 mm to 2 mm. 6. The inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the flow passage (4, 37, 42, 52, 210) is configured to create a substantially unidirectional flow through the opening of the cavity. The inhaler according to claim 1, characterized in that the maximum width prot |
