titleOfInvention INTRAUTERINE SYSTEM FOR TREATMENT USE
abstract 1. The intrauterine system for use in treating a medical condition selected from the group consisting of dysfunctional uterine bleeding, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, menopause, osteoporosis and urogenital atrophy, the system comprising: an insert with a therapeutically effective dose of a biologically active compound; the frame forming the inner space for receiving the liner, and the frame has an open structure that provides access to the main part of the outer surface liner; iodine or more retaining elements for retaining the skeleton in the uterus of a female mammal. 2. The system according to claim 1, in which the frame is generally flexible and interacts with the liner to form a mechanical structure having bending stiffness greater than the sum of those of the frame and liner individually. The system according to claim 1, in which the liner is a rod-shaped liner located in the core portion of the frame, and the liner has a bending stiffness greater than that of the core portion of the frame. The system of claim 1, wherein the liner comprises a core of a polymer matrix surrounded by a speed-regulating membrane. The system according to claim 1, in which the liner is essentially dimensionally stable and is not subject to destruction when used. The system according to claim 1, wherein the compound is a hormone, anti-hormone or hormone with a mixed action, such as a partial agonist, partial antagonist, or a combination thereof. The system of claim 6, wherein the hormone, anti-hormone, or mixed-action hormone contains a progesterone agonist
