abstract 1. A method of producing 1-amino-1,3,3,5,5-pentamethylcyclohexane mesylate, comprising the step of (i) :( i) reacting 1-amino-1,3,3,5,5-pentamethylcyclohexane with methanesulfonic acid in a solvent or a mixture of two or more solvents selected from anisole, cumene; pentane, hexane, heptane, isooctane; methyl acetate, propyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, isobutyl acetate; methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone; dimethyl sulfoxide; tetrahydrofuran, methyltetrahydrofuran, 1,1-diethoxypropane, 1,1-dimethoxymethane and 2,2-dimethoxypropane. 2. The method according to claim 1, where the solvent is an anisole or a mixture of anisole with at least one of the other solvents defined in clause 1.3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, where the solvent contains water dissolved in it. The method according to claim 3, where the solvent is selected from the group consisting of tetrahydrofuran, 1,1-diethoxypropane, 1,1-dimethoxymethane, 2,2-dimethoxypropane; methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone and mixtures thereof. 5. The method according to claim 3, where the solvent contains from 0.1 to 10% by weight of water based on the total amount of water and solvent, or from 0.1 to 8% by weight, or from 0.1 to 5% by weight, or from 0.1 to 4% by mass, or from 0.1 to 2% by mass, or from 0.1 to 1% by mass. 6. The method according to claim 1, wherein in step (i), the ratio of solvent volume to mass of 1-amino-1,3,3,5,5-pentamethylcyclohexane is from 5: 1 to 50: 1 (ml / g).
