titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR LOCKING UNDERGROUND FORMATIONS |
abstract | 1. A process for plugging subterranean formations in an oil and/or gas production process, the first step, which includes introducing water-absorbing particles into fluid-bearing and porous rocks, said particles may be water-swellable, cross-linked and water-insoluble polymers, said particles in water-bearing rocks ultimately prevent fluid from flowing through rock formations by absorbing water, characterized in that the absorbent particles comprise a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) with anionic and/or cationic properties and delayed swelling action. Process according to claim 1, characterized in that SAP is prepared by polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated vinyl compounds. Process according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it is carried out in formation waters containing salt. The process according to claim 1, characterized in that the SAP begins to swell after 5 minutes at the earliest and is prepared using at least one process variant selected from the group: a) polymerization of monomer components in the presence of a combination that consists of, at least one crosslinker not hydrolyzable under the conditions of use and at least one crosslinker exhibiting a carboxylic acid ester functional group hydrolyzable under the conditions of use; b) polymerizing at least one permanently anionic monomer, and at least one cationic monomer that can release its cationic charge through ester hydrolysis and/or deprotonation under the conditions of use; c) coating a core polymer component of at least |
