titleOfInvention METHOD FOR REMOVING ALKANOL IMPURITY FROM ORGANIC CARBONATE CEILING
abstract 1. A method of removing alkanol impurities from a stream containing organic carbonate and an alkanol impurity, comprising contacting the stream with a catalyst to influence the reaction of the alkanol impurity with organic carbonate. The method of claim 1, wherein the organic carbonate is di (C-C) alkyl carbonate, preferably diethyl carbonate; or di (C — C) aryl carbonate, or (C — C) alkyl (C — C) aryl carbonate; or cyclic (C — C) alkylene carbonate, or a mixture thereof. 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the alkanol impurity is etheroalkanol, more specifically alkoxyalkanol, most particularly 2-ethoxyethanol. The method according to claim 3, wherein the organic carbonate is diethyl carbonate and the alkanol impurity is 2-ethoxyethanol. The method of claim 1, wherein the catalyst is a heterogeneous catalyst, preferably a heterogeneous catalyst containing zinc. The method according to claim 1, where the stream containing an organic carbonate and an alkanol impurity is obtained by a method for producing a dialkyl carbonate and an alkanediol, comprising: (a) reacting an alkylene carbonate and an alkanol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to obtain a product mixture containing non-converted alkylene carbonate, non-converted alkanol, dialkyl carbonate , alkanediol and an alkanol impurity; (b) separating unconverted alkylene carbonate and alkanediol from the product mixture to obtain an overhead stream containing unconverted alkanol, dial ilkarbonat and the alkanol impurity; (c) regeneration alkanediol and (d) selection unconverted alkanol from the top stream containing unconverted alkanol, dialkyl carbonate and the alkanol impurity obtained in step (b) to produce a bottom stream containing dialkyl
