abstract 1. A method for producing an IL-18 antibody preparation with a reduced content of a host cell protein (BCH) from a sample of a mixture containing an antibody and at least one BCH, wherein said method comprises: (a) lowering the pH of said matrix sample, thereby obtaining initially isolated sample, wherein said lowering the pH is from about 3.0 to about 4.0; (b) adjusting the pH of said primarily isolated sample to a range of from about 4.5 to about 5.5, followed by application of said initially isolated sample per ion exchange cm Ola and obtaining a sample after ion exchange; (c) applying the specified sample after ion exchange to a hydrophobic interaction chromatography resin (CHB) and obtaining a sample after CHB, where the specified sample after CHB contains the indicated antibody preparation with a reduced content of BCC. 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said lowering of the pH is carried out by mixing a suitable acid with said sample of the mixture, and wherein said suitable acid is selected from the group consisting of citric acid, acetic acid, caprylic acid and the like. The method according to claim 1, wherein said ion exchange resin is either an anion exchange or a cation exchange resin. The method of claim 3, wherein said ion exchange resin is a cation exchange resin. The method according to claim 4, wherein said cation exchange resin is selected from the group consisting of fractogel, carboxymethyl (SM), sulfoethyl (SE), sulfopropyl (SP), phosphate (P) and sulfonate (S) resins.
