abstract 1. A method for determining the level of hemoglobin in a blood sample, counting and differentiating leukocytes, characterized in that it includes the following stages:! - placing a blood sample in an isotonic or hypertonic medium at a pH of not more than 10, not containing cyanide ions and containing at least one quaternary ammonium salt and one preservative,! - spectrophotometric detection of a complex formed by hemoglobin with quaternary ammonium groups, and! - counting and differentiation of leukocytes into at least three subpopulations,! wherein said method is carried out in the absence of any other ligand. ! 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the quaternary ammonium salt (s) are selected from compounds of formula (I):! NR1R2R3R4 + X-, where! R1 is a hydrocarbon chain containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms,! R2, R3 and R4 each independently represents an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and! X represents a halogen or a group selected from OH, CH3SO4 and PO4. ! 3. The method according to claim 2, characterized in that R1 is a hydrocarbon chain containing from 10 to 18 carbon atoms. ! 4. The method according to claim 3, characterized in that the ammonium salt (s) are selected from salts of dodecyl trimethyl ammonium, myristyl trimethyl ammonium, palmityl trimethyl ammonium and stearyl trimethyl ammonium. ! 5. The method according to claim 2, characterized in that R1 is a hydrocarbon chain containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. ! 6. The method according to claim 5, characterized in that the ammonium salt (s) are selected from tetraethylammonium salts. ! 7.
