titleOfInvention | TONED OPHTHALMIC DEVICES FROM SILICONE, METHODS OF THEIR MANUFACTURE, PROCESSES AND USED POLYMERS |
abstract | 1. A method including the following steps: ! (a) applying a first coloring composition comprising at least one non-crosslinked copolymer as a binder, at least one pigment, dye or mixture thereof, and at least one printing solvent, to the surface of a mold used for casting an ophthalmic device; ! (b) applying over the non-crosslinked copolymer binder applied in step (a) an unpolymerized hydrogel composition in an amount necessary to form a finished ophthalmic device, said hydrogel composition after polymerization having an oxygen permeability of greater than about 50 Barrer; and ! (c) polymerizing said composition to form a hydrogel to form a stable tinted ophthalmic device. ! 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the non-crosslinked copolymer binder contains at least one oxygen permeability agent. ! 3. The method according to claim 2, wherein said at least one oxygen permeability agent is selected from compounds of formula I! ! where R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of monovalent reactive groups, monovalent alkyl groups or monovalent aryl groups, each of the listed chemical groups may additionally contain functional groups selected from the following series: hydroxy, amino, oxa, carboxy , alkylcarboxy, alkoxy, amido, carbamate, carbonate, halogen, or various combinations thereof; and monovalent siloxane chains contain 1-100 repeating Si-O units |
