titleOfInvention SURFACE MODIFIED ELECTRIC INSULATION SYSTEM WITH IMPROVED TRACKING RESISTANCE AND EROSION RESISTANCE
abstract 1. A surface-modified electrical insulation system, including a hardened or cured synthetic polymer composition, containing at least one filler and, if necessary, additional additives, characterized in that the surface of the specified synthetic polymer composition is modified by applying a thin coating; moreover! - the specified thin coating is applied by plasma-chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and has a thickness in the range from about 50 nm to about 50 microns; and / or applied! - sol-gel process and has a thickness in the range from about 0.5 microns to about 1 mm; and! - the specified thin coating is a non-conductive polymer material with a melting point substantially higher than the melting point or decomposition temperature of the synthetic polymer composition containing the filler. ! 2. The electrical insulation system according to claim 1, characterized in that both types of thin coatings are applied one on top of the other in any desired sequence. ! 3. The electrical insulation system according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said synthetic polymer is selected from polymers known in the art used in electrical insulator compositions, preferably from polyesters, preferably poly (methyl methacrylate) or poly (alkyl acrylonitrile); or from thermosets, preferably polyurethanes or epoxy resin compositions. ! 4. The electrical insulation system according to claim 3, characterized in that said synthetic polymer is an epoxy resin composition, preferably based on cycloaliphatic epoxy resin. ! 5. The electrical insulation system according to claim 1
