| abstract | 1. Tolperisone comprising less than about 10 ppm · 2-methyl-1- (4-methylphenyl) propenone (4-MMPPO). ! 2. Tolperisone according to claim 1, comprising less than about 7 hours · ppm 4-MMPPO. ! 3. Tolperisone according to claim 1 or 2, comprising less than about 3 hours · ppm 4-MMPPO. ! 4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising tolperisone according to any one of claims 1 to 3 and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients. ! 5. A method of obtaining a purified composition of tolperisone, said method comprising:! (i) obtaining tolperisone, including an initial 4-MMPPO content of more than 10 ppm · ml and optionally additional impurities, and! (ii) purifying said tolperisone to form purified tolperisone having a 4-MMPPO content that is less than about 10 ppm. ! 6. The method according to claim 5, in which the specified cleaning is effective to reduce the content of 4-MMPPO at least five times relative to its initial content. ! 7. The method according to claim 5 or 6, wherein said purified tolperisone has a 4-MMPPO content of less than about 7 ppm. ! 8. The method according to claim 5, further comprising, prior to said preparation step, establishing the presence of 4-MMPPO as a contaminant of said tolperisone. ! 9. The method of claim 8, further comprising, in addition to the specified establishment, the determination of the initial content of 4-MMPPO in the specified tolperisone. !10. The method of claim 5, wherein said purification comprises recrystallization from a single solvent or from a combination of solvents. ! 11. The method of claim 10, wherein said recrystallization comprises either one or more recrystallization steps. ! 12.
